Have you always wanted to try your hand at 3D routing but didn’t quite know where to start? Well take a look at these samples we recently cut at CONSAC. Thanks to our friends at SAi who are the makers of EnRoute software, CNC and CAD/CAM design software for the wood working, sign making, manufacturing, and fabrication industries.
This 3D Dragon was designed to be cut using 30 lbs. Precision Board and measures 6 x 6 x .75 inches. Using a MultiCam CNC Router the piece was cut using a 1/4 inch end mill bit for the rough pass while using a 1/8 inch ball nose bit for the final pass.
This catch of the day was also designed to be cut using 30 lbs. Precision Board and measures approximately 9 x 5.1 x .75 inches. Using a MultiCam CNC Router the piece was cut using a 1/4″ end mill for the rough pass while using a 1/8 ball nose for the final pass.
This 3D routing example showcases EnRoute’s included texture settings. Cut on Precision Board and measuring 10 x 3.2 x 0.75 inches, this MultiCam logo takes approximately 8 minutes to cut. The texture and clear out cut around the text were done with a 1/8 ball nose bit and the final cut out was done using a 1/4 end mill.
Remember! When cutting Precision Board it is important to adequately vacuum the material being cut. Not only will it reduce the buildup of particulate dust but it will reduce the static build up on the table.
